BEES’s gender awareness & women's legal right activities have been initiated in 1992 under Women's Empowerment Program with the objectives to increase social awareness on gender related issues and to enhance the legal support services to the beneficiaries. BEES offers support services to establish women’s legal rights for eliminating all types of discrimination against women. BEES suggests women's empowerment at two levels - economic emancipation and establishment of right. The first target is to establish economic empowerment of the women to earn self-respect as well as acceptance by others. The second target is their social empowerment through awareness raising on women legal rights.

The women members of BEES are now active against illegal divorces, unregistered marriages, dowry etc. They are protesting against polygamy and realize that the unity among them is their strength to fight against oppression. Group members are concerned about registration of marriages, fixation of Mohorana, ownership & inheritance of property etc.
